Alexandria police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a woman in the trash room of the Alexandria Apartments on Monday afternoon. The victim, a 34-year-old Alexandria woman, had entered the trash room on the fourth floor of the apartment building. A man followed her. He was armed with a sharp metal object and threatened her with it. He forced her to perform a sex act on him and fled from the building. He was last seen driving away in a full-sized black SUV. The victim was examined at Inova Fairfax Hospital but did not require medical treatment.
The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, slanted eyes and thick lips. He is approximately 21 to 23 years old, 5-foot-7-inches and 160 to 165 pounds. He has a tattoo of a lion’s head on his left chest. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt, black pants and black shoes.
Police reported another incident in the same building in July. In that case, a 36-year-old female city resident was approached by a man in the fourth floor hallway. The suspect, who was armed with a knife, swiped at the victim. She raised her arm to defend herself and was cut on the arm. The victim screamed and the suspect fled on foot. The cut was minor and the victim did not require further medical attention.
In that case, the suspect was described as a black male, 30 to 35 years old, 5-foot-9-inches to 5-foot-11-inches, 180 to 200 pounds and was wearing a white t-shirt with rolled up sleeves, dark blue pants with stripes on the outside legs and black work boots. The suspect was not caught.
Police are not linking the two incidents but the similarities are of interest. Anyone with information about this week’s sexual assault should call Alexandria police at 703-838-4711.
