Crime Notes

The following incidents were reported by the Alexandria Police Department.

ROBBERY:

5400 block of N. Morgan Street. Oct. 19, 9:45 p.m. A 34-year-old Alexandria woman was walking when she was approached by a man. The suspect grabbed her purse and forcibly removed it from her grasp before fleeing on foot. The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches, 140 to 150 pounds and was wearing a black leather coat, dark shirt and blue jeans.

300 block of E. Monroe Avenue. Oct. 25, 9 p.m. A 24-year-old Alexandria man was walking home when the suspect walked toward him. The suspect grabbed him and placed an object, which the suspect said was a gun, against the victim's side. The suspect demanded the victim's wallet and the victim complied. The suspect then ran west and got into a red car. The car was last seen traveling south on Mount Vernon Avenue. The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male, 20 to 25, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 1 inch, 180 to 190 pounds, and wearing a dark shirt and black pants.

1200 block of Oronoco Street. Oct. 26, 7:15-7:21 p.m. A 38-year-old Alexandria woman, was walking when she encountered three suspects, one of whom stood in front of her. He grabbed her and the two others stole her purse and shopping bag. All three suspects then fled but in different directions. The victim was not injured. Suspect No. 1 is described as a black male, 15 to 18, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet, 155 to 165 pounds, and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. Suspect No. 2 is described as a black male, 15 to 18, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches, 150 to 165 pounds, and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. Suspect No. 3 is described as a black male, 15 to 18, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, 155 to 165 pounds, and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

FELONIOUS ASSAULT/ROBBERY:

Corner of Mount Vernon and E. Oxford Avenues. Oct. 29, 3-3:08 a.m. A 28-year-old Alexandria man, was walking home when he was approached by three suspects. All three were armed with guns and one demanded money. One of the suspects fired and the victim was shot in the hand. The suspects robbed the victim of his jacket and money. The suspects then got into a dark Ford Crown Victoria and were last seen traveling north on Mount Vernon Avenue. The victim was taken to Inova Alexandria Hospital where he is being treated for a non-life-threatening injury. Suspect No. 1 is described as a black male, bald and wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. Suspect No. 2 is described as a black male, with braided hair, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches and wearing a ski-style jacket. The only description available of suspect No. 3 is a black male.

INDECENT EXPOSURE:

200 block of E. Raymond Avenue. Oct. 27, 4:15-4:37 p.m. A 41-year-old Alexandria woman, was in the park with her children when she observed a man exposing himself. The man was across the street from the park standing behind a tree. A few minutes later, the woman looked again and this time observed the suspect standing in front of the tree and masturbating. Police were called and the suspect fled from the area. A short distance away, police stopped a 21-year-old Hispanic male, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, 150 to 160 pounds, who was wearing a blue shirt, blue pants and black shoes and questioned him. No arrest was made, however, this case is being followed up by the Criminal Investigations Section.

BURGLARY:

446 Calvert Court. Oct. 14, 12:01 a.m.-Oct. 24, 5:32 p.m. Someone gained entry to the business by undetermined means. Once inside, the suspect stole an electronic toy.

800 block of W. Glebe Road. Oct. 18, 3 p.m.-Oct. 23, 10:30 p.m. Someone gained entry to the residence by undetermined means. Once inside, the suspect stole jewelry and household items.

200 block of Ellsworth Street. Oct. 19, 8:00 a.m.-6:25 p.m. Someone forced open a door to gain entry to the residence. Once inside, the suspect stole money and luggage.

1015 W. Glebe Road. Oct. 23, 1:30-6:50 a.m. Someone damaged a wall to gain entry to the business. Once inside, the suspect stole cigarettes.

3800 block of Milan Drive. Oct. 26, 6 p.m.-Oct. 27, 8:45 a.m. Someone entered the maintenance shop by force through a window. Once inside, the suspect stole numerous tools, electronic equipment and luggage.

PROPERTY DESTRUCTION:

200-600 blocks of N. Jordan Street. Oct. 27, between 1:09-1:30 a.m. Police received calls that several cars had their windows shot out by a pellet gun or similar weapon. There were nine vehicles damaged on North Jordan Street and seven vehicles damaged in the area of Wheeler Avenue and Iris Street. A business located in the 2700 block of Duke Street also had its front window shot out during this same time frame. No suspects have been identified.
