From barbecue to spicy shrimp, more than 200 people doled out a donation to sample the food provided by area restaurants ... and all for a good cause.
The Carpenter's Shelter, Northen Virginia's largest homeless shelter, benefited from the generosity of the many patrons who walked through the Birchmere doors in Arlandria April 25. Approximately $50,000 later, the shelter is once again able to carry on with its innovative Aftercare program that works with shelter graduates, individuals and families, providing support as they return to the community.
The Carpenter's Shelter provides free comprehensive services to more than 1,000 children, women and men yearly.
AREA RESTAURANTS taking part in the 2nd annual Carpenter's Cook-off included: Anette's BBQ Heaven, The Birchmere, Cafe Salsa, Evening Star Cafe/Vermilion, FireFlies, Hollin Hall Pastry Shop, Landini Brothers Restaurant, Majestic Cafe, Mango Mike's, Misha's, RT's/Warehouse/The Wharf Restaurants, Stardust Restaurant and Union Street Public House.
