Open House. The Town of Vienna Department of Public Works hosts an open house from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Northside Public Works Facility, 600 Mill St., N.E., to celebrate Public Works Week. Vienna residents, scout troops, schools and others interested in seeing the facility are invited to attend. Groups of five or more call 703-255-6381 for reservations before May 14. Refreshments, coloring books and "hard hats" for children are provided. Additionally, the dedication of the vehicle maintenance facility at Northside in honor of former Town councilman Vincent J. Midway Slots trip. The Vienna Parks and Recreation Department sponsors a trip to Midway Slots in Delaware. A charter bus leaves at 10 a.m. from the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. S.E., and returns at about 6 p.m. Cost for transportation and buffet meal is $15 for Town of Vienna residents and $20 for out-of-town participants. Dog Walk/Adoption. Viva Vienna Festival and Health Fairs sponsor the "Healthy Hound Dog Adoption Event and Dog Walk." The event is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 216 Dominion Road N.E., Vienna. Dog walk registration and check-in are at 10 a.m. Adoptable dogs are showcased by local dog rescue organizations, and the walk will take place in Vienna for two miles.
