Fairfax County police are concerned about a series of recent home burglaries in Fair Oaks, Fair Lakes and Franklin Farm and are asking the public to help them find the suspects.
They say the crimes occurred March 8 and March 15 and the burglars struck during the daylight hours when the residences were unoccupied. Townhouses near bike paths were burglarized, between 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m., and the intruders entered through rear, sliding doors and somehow disabled the homes' alarm systems.
Burglaries occurred Monday, March 8, on Quail Creek Lane in Fair Lakes and on Quartz Lane in the Rockpointe community. A week later, Monday, March 15, thieves hit townhouses on Collis Oak Court and Mohr Oak Court, both in Fair Oaks, and on Old Dairy Court in the Franklin Farm community. They stole cash, jewelry, credit cards and checks.
According to police, on March 8, a man and woman were seen in the area during the time of the burglaries. They are described as black and associated with a newer, dark-colored car.
On March 15, two men were seen behind the townhouses, near the bike path. They're described as black — one, in his late 30s or early 40s; the other, between 19 and 25 — and both with slender builds. They were casually dressed and one man carried a beige-colored bag. Police say they could be either witnesses or suspects.
Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-800-673-2777, or the Fair Oaks District Station Criminal Investigations Section at 703-591-0585.
