A con man makes his way to Vienna this weekend, as Kilmer Middle School presents "The Music Man Jr.," by Meredith Wilson. Directed by Kilmer drama teacher Linda Clagg, the musical features more than 70 students working in the production's cast and crew.
Set in 1912 Little Falls, Iowa, the story concerns a charismatic con man, Harold Hill (Owen Masters), who poses as a music professor and convinces the townsfolk of Little Falls that a marching band will prevent the town's youth from playing pool. Almost all are taken in, except Marian the Librarian (Julie Bell) and Mayor Shinn (Alex Parrott) and his wife, Eulalie (Alexis Brown).
Performances of "The Music Man Jr." take place on Thursday, March 25, and Friday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, March 27, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and available at the door. Kilmer Middle School is located at 8100 Wolftrap Road, Vienna, off Gallows Road at the fire station.
