Mary Washington College student Priya Gyani of Oakton has been selected for inclusion in Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Gyani is the daughter of Suraj and Deepa Gyani of Oakton. She is a 2000 graduate of Oakton High School. A senior majoring in psychology and pre-medicine, Gyani has been named to the dean's list. She is a member of the college's rugby team, the Asian Student Association, Women of Color and the Hispanic Student Association. She also is a member of Community Outreach and Resources, the Leadership Awards Committee and the president of the Inter-Club Assembly. In addition, Gyani is a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, the Mary Washington Hospital and a counselor for the Student Transition Program. She also is a recipient of the college's Leadership Award.

Mary Washington College student Mary V. McCarthy of Vienna has been selected for induction into Phi Alpha Theta, a national history honorary society. A sophomore majoring in history, McCarthy is the daughter of Tom and Kay McCarthy of Vienna. McCarthy has been named to the dean's list, is a member of the National Society for Collegiate scholars, the Washington Guides and the intramural basketball team. She is a 2002 graduate of James Madison High School.

Rebecca Dezube of Vienna, a Thomas Jefferson High School graduate who is graduating from Harvard College this spring, has accepted the Canby Robinson Society Scholarship offered to freshman class members of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. The Canby Robinson Society Scholarship Selection Committee selects recipients on the basis of academic achievement, leadership, scholarship and professional promise. The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition and provides a $3,500 stipend for each of four years of study at Vanderbilt, based on continuing satisfactory academic progress.

The following Virginia Tech students from Dunn Loring were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2004 semester: Negin Daneshpayeh and Britt Faulkner.

To qualify for the dean’s list, students must attempt at least 12 credit hours graded on the A-F option and earn a 3.4 grade point average on a 4.0 scale during the semester.
