<bt>Louise Rupp Kilcullen, 87, a lifelong Alexandria resident, died July 14 at Alexandria Hospital of congestive heart failure.
Kilcullen was born Oct. 22, 1917 in Alexandria, and graduated from the Holy Cross Academy in Washington, D.C., before attending the George Washington University. In 1941, she married John L. Kilcullen Jr., who died in 1994.
She is survived by four children; son, Peter Kilcullen, and his wife, Holley Kilcullen of Alexandria; daughter, Christopher Kilcullen Thurlow, and her husband, Stephen Thurlow of Old Greenwich, Conn.; daughter, Hilary Kilcullen of Concord, N.H.; and daughter, Kieran Kilcullen Carter and her husband, Tom Carter of Alexandria, as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
<sh>Beatrice Pickford West
<bt>Beatrice Margaretha Pickford West, 94, a federal government retiree, died at her home in Alexandria on July 14. West was a resident of Alexandria for 77 years.
West was born and raised in West Warwick, R.I. She attended the University of Virginia Nursing School, where she met Marion Bogley West. They were married Jan. 23, 1928, and moved to Alexandria.
During World War II, West was one of the seven original employees to open the Alexandria Torpedo Factory for the federal government. Her federal employment later included many years with the Social Security Administration, from which she retired on May 31, 1971.
West was a member of St. Clement Episcopal Church in Alexandria and of Jessica Callahan Chapter No. 91, Order of Eastern Star.
West loved and enjoyed her family. She was a voracious reader, enjoyed playing the piano and was an enthusiastic, devoted fan of the Washington Redskins.
Her husband of 43 years, Marion Bogley West, died in 1971.
Survivors include three children, Marian West Fischer, David Allan West, and Barbara West Lunsford, all of Alexandria; a sister, Muriel Pickford Warner of Waynesboro, Va.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandson.
