Kfoury Construction Group, located at 11307 Sunset Hills Road, Reston, recently began the reconstruction of the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) headquarters building in Washington, D.C., after nearly a year of pre-construction and interior and exterior demolition. The project will reconstruct the 1860s buildings, and provide the Quaker organization with increased space and a safer, handicap-accessible working environment, incorporating ÒgreenÓ architecture and building materials.
The FCNL building was constructed during the Civil War as two row houses, which were later used as storefronts. Modern renovations will make the space barrier-free and building code compliant, and will provide wiring appropriate for Internet access and future developments. Environmentally-friendly features of the reconstructed building include photovoltaic panels, radiant floors and a Ògreen vegetatedÓ roof to create more efficient heating and cooling. Kfoury Construction Group was founded in 1982 and focuses on high-end commercial interiors and base-building construction. For more information visit www.kfoury.com.
