Woman Sought in Fraud

<bt>The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking information on the whereabouts of Melissa Ann Cash. Cash is wanted for prescription fraud. She is also wanted on the federal level for conspiracy to distribute prescription medication. She has been known to reside in the Sterling, Herndon, Woodbridge and the Manassas Park areas.

The subject is a 23-year-old White female, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds. She has hazel eyes and in the past has had blonde, brown and red hair. She also has tattoos on her lower back and right arm.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Cash is asked to call local police or contact the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office at 703-777-1021.

<sh>Herndon Man Arrested

<bt>Mohammed Sharif, 20, of Herndon, was arrested and charged with four counts of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old female acquaintance in the early morning of Jan. 9. According to the Herndon Police Department, they responded to the 1000 block of Lexus Way Jan. 8, after receiving a call bout an alleged sexual assault. After an investigation, Sharif was arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was held without bond. Police believe the assaults have been taking place over at least a three-month period.

<sh>911 Goes Down

<bt>A water leak fizzled the county's 911 system Jan. 8, forcing the Town of Herndon to prompt residents to dial a non-emergency number into the police station.

For several hours Thursday night and into Friday morning, residents were advised to call 703-435-6846, an existing police station phone number, for emergencies. Senior Sgt. Jerry Keys said the number will continue to be used as a backup for the 911 system, should another outage occur.

<sh>Town Elections

<bt>The election of the 2004-06 Town of Herndon mayor and Town Council will be held Tuesday, May 4. Individuals interested in becoming a candidate for the office of either mayor or Town Council may download a candidate informational bulletins and candidate's forms from the Virginia State Board of Election's Web site, www.sbe.state.va.us, which contains the qualifications for each office and filing requirements.

Deadlines for candidate declarations, petitions and other candidate forms are on located on page two of the "May 2004 Elections Candidacy Requirements for Town Offices."

<sh>'A Little Bit of Broadway'

<bt>Herndon High School's annual Broadway cabaret, "A Little Bit of Broadway," will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22 and Saturday, Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. in the HHS Auditorium.

This year's show presents songs and productions numbers from more than 15 of Broadway and Off-Broadway's best shows, including "Hairspray," "Miss Saigon," "Les Miserable," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Sunset Boulevard," "Movin' Out" and "Anything Goes." The cast consists of HHS students, many of whom are members of the high school's choral department.

Directed and produced by Herndon's choral directors, Dana and Jim Van Slyke, "A Little Bit of Broadway" presents cast numbers, small ensembles, trios, duets, and solos.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $6 for general admission.
