Abbey R. Horen of Fairfax was named to the dean's list for the fall 2003 semester at High Point University in North Carolina. To qualify, students must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average. Horen is a senior majoring in human relations graduating May 2004. She is a member of Kappa Delta sorority.
Leah Klass, a Rotary International District 7610 nominee, has been awarded a World Peace Scholarship. As a winner of a scholarship for 2004-2006, Klass will be attending the Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The university is one of seven Rotary Centers for International Studies where scholarship winners may pursue a two-year master's level program.
World Peace Scholarship applications must be made through a local Rotary Club in applicant's legal or permanent residence or place of full time study or employment. Klass was sponsored by the Falls Church Rotary Club. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in a language other than their own and have five years of related work experience.
