<bt>Capt. Larry Moser is now Major Larry Moser. As such, he will be turning the helm of the Mount Vernon District Station over to Capt. Mike Kline. With a catch in his voice, he said that this was a bittersweet moment. While he is pleased with his promotion and transfer to the administrative offices, he will find it hard to leave behind his post in Mount Vernon.
“It’s a mixed blessing. It has been a great privilege to serve here,” Moser said.
Making it a little easier is the selection of his replacement, Capt. Mike Kline, a seasoned veteran who has had four tours in the Mount Vernon district.
Kline introduced himself briefly, saying that he was “hard-working, honest and direct.”
“Many of the officers here I have served with. This station has the most dedicated set of officers in the county. Many are here 25 years and more. They don’t stay because they have to, but because they want to. They love to be cops. I’m thrilled to be back.”
Mount Vernon District Supervisor Gerry Hyland had nothing but good things to say about Moser.
“I can’t think of a more deserved promotion,” Hyland said. “He [Major Moser] is one of the most devoted professionals. I have never met a person like him. Fairfax County is privileged and honored to have you work for us.”
An official changeover ceremony will be held sometime next month.
