<cal2>Holiday Luncheon. The Reston Community Center Senior Academy's Holiday Luncheon, from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at the Sheraton Reston Hotel. Gifts will be given. Lunch will feature a performance of barbershop favorites by the Harmony Heritage Barbershop Chorus. Free bus transportation from the Hunters Woods Fellowship House, the Lake Anne Fellowship House and Thoreau Place is available on request. The Herndon Towne Square Singers will be presenting its annual winter holiday show ÒWinterlude Ð A Season of the Heart,Ó at 7:30 p.m. The performances will be held at the Industrial Strength Theatre located at 269 in the Sunset Business Park in Herndon. Feature holiday tunes familiar to all audience members. Tickets can be purchased at the Herndon Community Center, 814 Ferndale Ave., or from members of the Herndon Towne Square Singers. <cal2>Children's Shopping Spree. At Frying Pan Park, 2709 West Ox Road, Herndon, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Free wrapping. Meet at the old Floris schoolhouse, where adults wait while staff assist children shopping for holiday gifts at the Country Store. In case of inclement weather, shopping dates will be Dec. 11 and 13. Holiday Celebration. The Lake Anne Village Center merchants invite the community to its annual holiday celebration, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Free family activities including Pat Macintyre's ornament making workshop, Zoo-to-You petting zoo and performances by the Forest Edge Elementary School orchestra and band students, Santa arrives at noon by barge to greet the children. Tree Lighting. The Herndon holiday tree lighting and sing-along, 5 p.m., at Town Hall Square, Elden and Lynn streets, Herndon.

Chorale Performance. The Reston Chorale opens its 37th concert season with its annual holiday concert, ÒA Seasonal Celebration.Ó The evening celebrates of the sounds of the season in two featured performances at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., at

the Reston Community Center. Includes two original works composed specifically for The Reston Chorale through

Homes Tour. Dog Adoption. Reston Town Center and local nonprofit Gooddogz.org will hold a Home 4 the Holidays Super Dog Adoption, at Reston Town Center, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Both all-breed and purebred dog rescue organizations will be on hand with adoptable dogs. Several local pet businesses will also be exhibiting their special products and services for the holiday season. The third annual ChildrenÕs Nutcracker on Ice, sponsored by ChiliÕs, will be performed at the Reston Town Center Ice Rink, at 7:30 p.m. This adaptation of ÒThe NutcrackerÓ will be skated by local figure skaters, aged 7-15. Chanukah Service. Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation, 1441 Wiehle Ave. in Reston, invites the community to its annual Chanukah service, led by Rabbi Robert A. Nosanchuk, at 8 p.m. It will be a sermon in song, featuring traditional as well as new arrangements of Chanukah music sung by Kol Shira, NVHC's adult choir, conducted by director, Carol Fram. The service will begin with the lighting of the menorah in the sanctuary lobby, at which time the congregation will also dedicate its sanctuary in honor of Rabbi Emerita Rosalind A. Gold, D. Holiday Hike. Take a hike with a naturalist through the Glade Stream Valley, from 10-11:30 a.m., at Glade Stream valley Trail, at the corner of Glade Drive and Twin Branches Road, Reston. Youth Choral Concert. The Fairfax Choral Society Youth Chorus performs "A Child's Christmas," 7 p.m., at the Fairfax United Methodist Church, 10300 Startford Ave., Fairfax. Featuring John Rutter's fable, "Brother Heinrich's Christmas," the youth choruses will present a variety of seasonal favorites with special appeal to the younger members of the family.

Live Nativity at Christ Presbyterian Church, 7-9 p.m. The youth of CPC will generate a live nativity scene to take us back to the night of JesusÕs birth. Railroaders Open House. The Northern Virginia Model Railroaders Inc. will be holding an open house, from 1-5 p.m. Features a fixed operating "HO" scale model

railroad with digital control, sound and smoke. Also, visit the W&OD railroad's real caboose. The club is located in the historic "Washington & Old Dominion Railroad"

station, 231 Dominion Road, on the Northern Virginia Regional Parks W&OD Trail, in downtown Vienna. Free admission. However, cash or check donations are accepted at the door.
