Police Seek Information on Rape Suspect

Reward offered for information leading to suspect's arrest.

The Alexandria Crime Solvers and the U. S. Marshal Service are offering up to a $6,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of Rigoberto Ramos. Ramos, 23, of Prince William County, is wanted for sexually assaulting an Alexandria woman as she jogged on the Holmes Run bike path. He has eluded police since the July incident. Ramos is considered to be armed and dangerous because of his history of weapons violations and the violent nature of the rape. He is known on the streets as Barbito and has also used the name Ismael Alberto Murcia. He has frequented the Route 1 corridor, Prince William Plaza, the Culmore-Falls Church area and Columbia Pike. While he has ties in this area, he may also have gone to Florida or California, according to police.

Ramos is a Hispanic male with dark hair, 5-feet-8-inches tall and 180 pounds. He may have recently shaved his beard. He has tattoos on his chest and two on his back. He may be driving a green 1996 Honda Civic hatchback with VA tags JHD-5704.

The other suspect in the case, Jose Daniel Bonilla, is being held at the Alexandria Detention Center and faces trial in September.

Anyone with information about Ramos’ whereabouts should contact Alexandria police at 703-8383-4444 or Alexandria Crime Solvers at 703-838.4858.
