Marchman Family Fund-Raiser Raises $6,000

An ice cream and baked goods fund-raiser raised more than $6,000 for the Marchman family fund on Friday, Aug. 20 at the Greenbriar community pool. The event came to a close when the last of 36 gallons of ice cream were sold and only one rice crispy treat remained from the baked goods. In addition, a car was donated to the family.

On Tuesday, July 20, Elizabeth (Beth) Marchman’s car was struck from behind by a distracted driver on I-66. Her car burst into flames, killing her 2-year-old in his toddler seat and the Marchman’s unborn child. Marchman, from the Greenbriar neighborhood, was medevac'd to Washington Hospital Center where she remains in the Intensive Care Unit.

According to the Marchman Web site, Beth Marchman is now off the ventilator and on oxygen and can speak a few words at a time. She will begin skin treatments in a few days, including skin grafts for burns on her right arm and leg.

Marchman's son Logan, 13, is registered to attend Rocky Run Middle School and her husband Randy continues to remain at her bed side. For more information on Marchman’s condition, visit www.marchman.dork.cx.
