The following incidents were reported by the Alexandria Police Department.
ABDUCTION:
206 Swamp Fox Road. Aug. 13, 10 p.m. The victim, a 15-year-old Fairfax County girl, had stepped outside of a movie theater to make a phone call. As she walked back in, the suspect grabbed her and tried to restrain her. She resisted and was able to break away. Officers located the suspect, who works for the cleaning crew there, in a nearby hallway. Mario Ortiz Suarez, 23, of Seminary Road, was arrested and charged with abduction. He is being held at the Alexandria jail on a $10,000 bond. The victim suffered abrasions to her face but did not need medical treatment.
ROBBERY:
4607 Duke St. Aug. 12, between 9:45 p.m. and 9:54 p.m. A 21-year-old Alexandria woman, was working as a clerk when the suspect entered the video store. He approached the counter and passed the clerk a written message demanding money. She screamed and ran from the store. The suspect then went around the counter and removed money from the cash box. The suspect fled from the business and was last seen running north on North Jordan Street. The clerk was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male, 35-45, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, 160-175 pounds, and wearing a dark blue shirt and blue jeans.
FELONIOUS ASSAULT:
200 block of South Van Dorn Street. Aug. 17, 1:01 a.m. A 21-year-old Alexandria man was walking out of an apartment building when the suspect approached him. The suspect requested money and when the victim refused, the suspect struck him on the arm with a hammer. The suspect dropped the hammer and then fled from the scene. The victim was treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital for a laceration to the arm. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a hooded, blue sweatshirt and dark pants.
BURGLARY:
5249 Duke St. Between 6:30 p.m. Aug. 14 and 8:32 a.m. Aug. 15. At least 18 health-care offices in the building were burglarized. The suspect(s) gained entry by forcing or prying the doors open. Once inside, they stole cash and other items.
Unit block of Yale Drive. Aug. 11, between 11:15 a.m. and noon. Someone gained entry to the residence by undetermined means. Once inside, the suspect stole electronic equipment.
900 block of Manor Road. Aug. 11 between 7:40 a.m. and 5 p.m. Someone forced open a door to gain entry to the residence. Once inside, the suspect stole jewelry.
5000 Seminary Road. Aug. 12, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Someone gained entry to the hotel room by undetermined means. Once inside, the suspect stole jewelry.
5800 block of Merton Court. Aug. 10, between 10:05 and 10:16 p.m. Someone entered the residence through a unlocked patio door. The victim had just returned from the apartment laundry room when she discovered a man standing in her living room. When she questioned him, the suspect left through the same sliding glass door he used to enter the victim's residence. Nothing was taken. The suspect is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, 175-180 pounds and was wearing a green T-shirt and blue jeans.
1320 Braddock Place. Between 10 p.m. Aug. 9 and 7 a.m. Aug. 10. Someone entered the business's parking garage booth by prying the outside lock. Once inside, the suspect stole a laptop computer.
