A Gaithersburg man died as a result of injuries sustained when he was hit by a car driven by a McLean man on Seven Locks Road March 30, according to Montgomery County Police.
Hadrian Rasian Dumitirescu, 35, was crossing Seven Locks Road near Scotland Drive at approximately 9:30 p.m. when he was struck in the northbound lane. He was coming from the vicinity of a bus stop on the southbound side of the road, say police.
Police have not determined if he had been on a bus. Police say he was not crossing in a crosswalk or at an intersection.
He was hit by a Ford Explorer being driven by Theodore Cort Simpson, 40, of McLean, police said.
Dumitirescu was taken to Suburban hospital but did not die until April 5. After his death, Montgomery County’s collision reconstruction unit began investigating, said Derick Baliles, spokesperson for Montgomery County Police. “It usually takes a couple of months [for them to complete their investigation],” Baliles said.
After the investigation, the unit will meet with representatives from the State’s Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed. No charges were filed at the scene.
