<sh>Ordinance Revision Project

<sh>Sewer System Work

<bt>A contractor for the Town of Herndon will be rehabilitating the sewer system on Elden Street between Post Drive and Herndon Parkway beginning April 19 until the project is completed. Restoration is required to meet current standards and eliminate maintenance problems.

Construction will be conducted from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. All businesses that will be affected will receive advance notice. Every effort will be made to complete this program with the minimum of inconvenience to residents, businesses and motorists.

<sh>Man Turns Self In

<bt>A Herndon man wanted in connection with a stabbing that occurred outside a Sterling restaurant this past weekend turned himself over to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office early Thursday morning.

Jesus Ayala, 35, is alleged to have assaulted and cut a Herndon female with a sharp object while in the rear parking lot of the Kawama's Family Restaurant in the Sterling Park Mall.

Ayala has been charged with malicious wounding and grand larceny. He was being held at the Loudoun Adult Detention Center without bond.

Deputies were called to the Reston Hospital emergency room where the 29-year-old victim was being treated shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

The incident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday and Ayala fled the scene in a 1999 white Ford Taurus belonging to a witness at the scene. The vehicle was discovered Monday in the parking lot of the Dulles Town Center.

<sh>Information in Beating Wanted

<bt>Fairfax County Crime Solvers is asking for the public's assistance identifying the person responsible for severely beating a man in the 3300 block of Kinfolk Court, in the Franklin Farms area. According to police, on Friday, March 19, at approximately 10:17 p.m., a 45-year-old Manassas-area man, employed as a food delivery driver, was attempting to deliver a food order. A short time later, residents called 911 to report a man who rang several doorbells asking for help. When police officers arrived, they found the man seated in his car. He had been beaten. The victim was medevaced to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Anyone with information on this malicious wounding or the person involved is asked to call Fairfax County Crime Solvers at 1-800-673-2777 or 703-691-8888. A $1,000 cash reward will be paid for information which leads to an arrest and indictment. As always, callers never give their names or appear in court.

<sh>Candidate Forum

<bt>The Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce and HCTV will host the biannual Candidates Forum for the Town of Herndon Sunday, April 25, beginning at 4 p.m., at the Council Chambers, 765 Lynn St.

The 12 candidates for Town Council will be presented from 4-7 p.m. The forum breaks for an hour's dinner and resumes with the mayoral candidates from 8-9:30 p.m.

The public is invited to attend the free event and there will be an opportunity for questions from the audience and the local press.

All of those running for the offices of mayor and Town Council are requested to contact the chamber at 703-437-5556 in order to receive an invitation to participate.

<bt>The next meeting of the Joint Communications Committee will be held on Tuesday, April 27, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers conference room, 765 Lynn St.

sh>Golf Course Master Plan Forum

<bt>The Herndon Centennial Golf Course and town Public Works staff will play host to a public forum Thursday, April 29, beginning at 6 p.m., in the golf course clubhouse, 909 Ferndale Ave. The purpose is to solicit comments on the proposed golf course maser plan developed by Ault, Clark & Associates. A representative from the firm will give a presentation and answer questions related to the overall planning process and the proposed improvements.
