Messiah United Methodist Church hosts a Divorce Recovery Workshop on Wednesday evenings, through May 12, from 7:30-9 p.m. The 8-week seminar is designed to help divorced and separated persons heal wounds and help them grow through the situation in a supportive atmosphere. With the voice of their own generation, the youth group of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 5114 Twinbrook Road in Fairfax, brings a new worship service to senior and junior high-age students on Sunday, April 18. The services will take place at 7 p.m., in the church's sanctuary. One Sunday a month, the youth band “Nothing but Faith” will sing and perform for the service while other students deliver the message, scripture readings and prayers. Communion will be celebrated. Burke United Methodist Church hosts "The Parables as Keys to Healthy Relationships" on Sundays, April 25, May 2, 16, and 23, from 6-7:30 p.m. This course is offered by Luminea Institute of the Center for Pastoral Counseling of Virginia and is taught by Rev. Burke Presbyterian Church offers a Coffeehouse Worship Service on Saturdays at 5:30 p.m., for those people who may be unavailable Sunday mornings or are seeking a break from a more traditional style of worship. The service offers the same lesson and sermon as the Sunday service, but in a less formal environment. A nursery is provided for young children. The Shalem Institute is offering free monthly prayer opportunities in Fairfax. The time together will be devoted to relaxation, the presentation of different prayer practices, silence, journal keeping and small group sharing. Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, located at 8336 Carrleigh Parkway in Springfield, supports a Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) program on the first Wednesday of each month.
