At Stone Bridge: 'Kiss Me Kate'

The cast of Stone Bridge High School's spring play, the musical, "Kiss Me Kate" is continuing with rehearsals after losing two students who died in a car accident on March 27.

The two students, Nicholas J. Pendola and Anthony Cibelli-Mason were both interested in theater and involved with the upcoming play. Cibelli-Mason, a senior, worked as a technician and the stage manager. Pendola, a sophomore, had one of the leading roles in "Kiss Me Kate."

The drama department is now considering a few things they want to do in memory of the two students. One of the suggestions is to name the control booth after Cibelli-Mason, the stage after Pendola and the auditorium after them both, said drama teacher Glen Hochkeppel.

The cast will perform a version of the musical on April 29 - May 2. The play will be shown at 7:30 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

The cast will put a science fiction spin on one part of the play which will take place in space.

There are four leading roles in the play: Beth Bond (Kate), Stephanie Copperman (Bianca), Sam Devlin (Patruchio) and Nicholas J. Pendola was supposed to play Lucentio. The drama department is now looking to fill his role, Hochkeppel said.

Stone Bridge performed "Feiffer's People" as the fall play. The winter play was "The Mouse That Roared," a comedy about a tiny European country that goes to war with U.S. Students also got the chance to direct their own plays in February. It was a mixture of short comedies and student-written dramas.
