A one story home located at 8705 Lagrange Street, sustained an estimated $200,000 fire damage Sunday afternoon when it became "fully involved minutes after firefighters arrived," according to fire officials.
First arriving units reported heavy fire coming from the front door and windows of the home. It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
"Firefighters had to contend with live power lines which had fallen on one side of the house, posing a safety problem while fighting the fire," said Daniel L. Schmidt, public information officer. "But there were no injuries."
Although no one was in the residence at the time of the fire, four occupants have been displaced. They were assisted by the county chapter of the American Red Cross.
Units from Lorton, Kingstowne, Gunston, Pohick and Fort Belvoir, responded bringing 30-plus firefighters to the scene, according to Schmidt. The cause remains under investigation.
