Abduction Ordeal Ends In New Jersey

A Mount Vernon area man is in custody in New Jersey following his arrest on carjacking and abduction charges.

Fairfax County police said that last Saturday at around 7:20 p.m., a man walked into Denny's Restaurant at 8625 Richmond Highway, pulled out a handgun and ordered a 44-year-old man out of the restaurant and into a 1999 dark blue Nissan Sentra.

The Sentra left Denny's parking lot and was seen headed south on Richmond Highway. Fairfax County Police sent out an alert to neighboring jurisdictions and states to look for the carjacker.

Later that evening, New Jersey State Police found the vehicle on the New Jersey Turnpike and took the suspect and the hostage into custody.

Fairfax County Police then obtained warrants for Jito Binoya, 42, of 3945 San Leandro Place in the Hybla Valley area, charging him with abduction, carjacking and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The case is being investigated by both Fairfax County Police and the New Jersey State Police.

No information was available on the condition of the victim.

ACCORDING TO POLICE, Binoya has also been charged with abduction and carjacking in connection with an incident that occurred before the Denny's abduction. Earlier that same evening, Binoya approached a 42-year-old Alexandria area man, who was in the 3900 block of San Leandro Place. Binoya produced a handgun and demanded the victim drive him away in the victim's Dodge Neon. As the victim drove on Russell Road near Buckman Road, he jumped from the driver's side of the car. Binoya managed to get into the driver's seat and drove away towards Richmond Highway. He then drove to the area of the Denny's Restaurant and abandoned the Dodge.
