Marine Corps 2nd Lt. David J. Lee Jr., son of Carol H. and David J. Lee of Springfield, recently went ashore to Roberts International Airport and the Freeport of Monrovia in Liberia to provide support for West African forces while assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, based in Camp Lejeune, N.C. The unit is currently deployed with the USS Iwo Jima. Lee joined the Marine Corps in May 2001.

Erica A. Green has been promoted to the rank of technical sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Green is an information technology and security manager assigned to the deputy chief of staff, plans and programs at the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. She has 11 years of military service. She is the daughter of Christine E. Pearson of Harrisburg, Pa., and Tracey L. Burke Sr. of Springfield. The technical sergeant is a 1992 graduate of Central Dauphin High School, Harrisburg.

Navy Reserve Chief Petty Officer Boyd R. Daugherty, Jr., son of Ella M. Daugherty of Springfield, recently returned from a six-month deployment to Kuwait while assigned to Inshore Boat Unit 15, home based in Corpus Christi, Texas. Daugherty is one of more than 20 Sailors deployed with the unit who participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His unit was responsible for protecting coalition ships carrying combat equipment into the theater of operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Navy ships patrolled continuously during off load operations and escorted ships into and out of port. Daugherty is a 1965 graduate of Woodson High School and joined the Navy Reserve in December 1966.
