A 23-year-old Centreville man was indicted for malicious wounding this week by a Fairfax County grand jury. He is Jose Manuel Canenguez-Giron of 14201 Saint Germain Drive, No. 104, in the Knolls of Newgate community.
Fairfax County police believe that on March 22, he stabbed two acquaintances and tried to break into a home. He was in a car with two Manassas men, both 23, around 11:30 p.m., on Compton Road near Centreville Road, when police say Canenguez-Giron suddenly became upset, allegedly attacked the two men and left the car — fleeing on foot.
The victims drove themselves to the fire station on Old Centreville Road for initial treatment of their non-life-threatening injuries. In the meantime, patrol officers responded to the 14500 block of Pittman Court in Centreville, where a man had broken a basement window and was trying to enter a house.
Officers found the intruder — later reportedly identified as Canenguez-Giron — and arrested him. He was charged with destruction of property, possession of false identification and being drunk in public. Furthermore, police say an investigation allegedly linked him to the earlier stabbing, so they also charged him with malicious wounding.
He appeared last Tuesday, Sept. 9, in General District Court. At that time, Judge William J. Minor Jr. certified the case against him to the next grand jury for possible indictment. The grand jury meeting on Monday, Sept. 15, indicted Canenguez-Giron as charged. He is scheduled for a jury trial, Oct. 7 in Circuit Court.
