United States Park Police are searching for a woman they believe may have information about the drowning of a three-year-old boy near Swains Lock.
The woman is described as a white female with a small, white dog. She is believed to have been driving a silver SUV, possibly a Bronco or Blazer.
“We believe she may have been walking her dog in the park,” said Park Police Spokesperson Scott Fear. “We’d like to talk to her about things she may have seen or people she may have talked to.”
James Mawson, 3, of Gaithersburg, drowned in the C&O Canal near Swains Lock on Aug. 23 at approximately 6:30 p.m.
U.S. Park Police have ruled the incident an accidental drowning, but it is still under investigation. Mawson had family present at the time, but details surrounding the incident are unclear.
