The Herndon Optimist Club will hold a meeting on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 5:30 p.m., at Euro Bistro to install its newly elected officers.

The new officers will be Seth Watari as president; George Price as president-elect; Howie Haselbeck as vice president of sports; Rogers Harrison as treasurer; Babs Clark as recording secretary; Larry Day as secretary-treasurer; Gerald Carter as immediate past president; Mary Burger and Laura Price will serve as directors.

Herndon-based Northrop Grumman Corporation's Information Technology (IT) sector has named David W. Zolet to the newly created position of vice president, Homeland Security. Zolet will report to Herb Anderson, president, Northrop Grumman IT. Zolet will also serve as Northrop Grumman's lead corporate executive for homeland security solutions and business development. He will chair the company's inter-sector homeland security executive council, leading the development of strategic methodology for working with multiple missions, customers and functions.

Most recently, Zolet was vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems sector's Civil Systems Division.
