The Oakton United Methodist Church at 2951 Chain Bridge Road recently completed its renovation and expansion project. The $1.4 million dollar project, which broke ground in August 2002, gives the church new office space, a new music rehearsal room, additional classrooms, and a remodeled social hall with bathrooms. The project also expanded the sanctuary, by lengthening the back portion and lobby and adding a lobby elevator. Throughout the construction, the church never missed a service.
Founded in 1898, the church has around 550 members.
"Everybody's excited. And some of our older members who haven't been able to attend the functions downstairs will be able to now," said church member Nancy Davis.
