Welcome to Centreville, a community rich in history and moving fast into the future! Chartered in 1792, Centreville is part of the Sully District. Once a sparsely populated rural area connected by dirt roads traveled by Civil War troops, Centreville has grown into the largest supervisory district in Fairfax County. Many residents believe Centreville represents the "American suburb" of the modern era.

Located strategically near the I-66 and Route 28 corridors, Centreville is positioned to lead the western end of the region in residential growth and business development. Centreville is served by retail centers, schools, restaurants, planned communities, parks, libraries, and numerous public facilities.

In December of 2003, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of flight, the Sully District will become the official new home to the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum Annex located at Dulles International Airport. This facility will house a large collection of aircraft and spacecraft; it will feature an observation deck from which visitors can watch arriving and departing aircraft and will be an education center rich with opportunities for school children in Fairfax County as well as around the country.

As you can see, exciting opportunities lie ahead for Centreville and the Sully District. And, this continues to happen because community spirit abounds in Centreville. Citizens and local business leaders help to direct the issues that affect the community — education, transportation, land use and public safety. The commitment and dedication of the Centreville residents make it a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family.

I welcome you to Centreville and hope you will get involved in the community to make it a better place for us all.
