<bt>To the Editor:
As a Republican who is publicly supporting Gerry Connolly (D) for chair of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, I am closely reading all the political mailers I'm receiving before Tuesday's election. Today, I took a double-take when I read Mychele Brickner's (R) piece re: Gerry's criticism of her involvement with book banning.
In particular, I noted the word judgment was misspelled, which she had conveniently highlighted for me by underlining. I couldn't believe an expensive mailer in such a high-profile campaign would have a mistake so I even checked my dictionary thinking that perhaps Webster had changed the spelling without telling me.
I'm also an active volunteer in South County and have sat through many school board hearings on behalf of the new high school building now under construction in Lorton thanks to a unique public-private partnership. Mychele Brickner, who lives in my Springfield School Board district, was not a vocal supporter of this project until the final vote.
Today's mail just reinforced my decision to vote for Gerry Connolly Nov. 4 — and to encourage my friends and neighbors to do so as well.
