Cathy Hudgins is seeking reelection after serving her first term as Hunter Mill supervisor, and faces challenger Doug Bushee.
Hudgins deserves a second term representing Reston and Vienna. Her commitment to human services and affordable housing is critical on the Board of Supervisors, as is her role as the only minority. Her growing understanding of land use issues and the complexities of the Rail to Dulles conundrum will continue to serve her constituents.
Bushee is a young, first-time candidate whose understanding of the function of county government is still rudimentary. He also signed the tax cap pledge, a simplistic response designed to serve campaigns, but which fails to acknowledge the limits of county funding sources and the uncertainty of the future.
