Fellow voters, please take heed.
We urge our fellow voters in Northern Virginia to scrutinize the candidates in the upcoming elections very carefully. Who had the money? From whom did it come? What conflicts of interest do these factors represent? This information has been made abundantly clear in various local newspapers.
We need a clean slate of people who are not beholden to developers and Realtors, regardless of party affiliation or prior experience. Indeed, given the abysmal record of the various local boards in recent years, a lack of experience or connections would be a big plus of any candidate in this election.
Whoever has the money, especially from developers and Realtors, should not be elected, or re-elected, as the case may be. That would be a big step toward cleaner government and greater service to the wider public interest. Otherwise, expect more sprawl with the attendant tax hikes, traffic jams, pollution and noise.
