Jameelah Calhoun of South Lakes High has been named a semifinalist in the 2004 National Achievement Scholarship program, an academic competition for Black American high school students, conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).
Semifinalists will compete for more than 775 Achievement Scholarship awards, worth $2.7 million, to be awarded next spring. The awards will be supported by corporate organizations, professional associations, higher education institutions, and funds from the NMSC. To be considered for a scholarship, semifinalists must advance to the finalist level by fulfilling additional requirements.
South Lakes High School Class of 1983 will hold its 20th high school reunion the weekend of Oct. 11. The schedule is as follows:
* Friday, Oct. 10, 7 p.m. Happy Hour at Market Street Bar & Grill followed by a 9:30 p.m. performance of the jazz trio, Three for All, featuring '83's own Mykle Lyons.

Marymount University and Fairfax County Public Schools will hold on an Open House for the 2004-05 Professional Development Academy teacher training program.
