Roger Page Moorman, died Sunday, Nov. 16. He was born Sept. 8, 1945 in Roanoke, Va., the youngest of four children born to the late Hosley J. and Grace W. Moorman.
Moorman was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Roanoke and attended public schools there until the fifth grade.
In 1966, he moved to Englewood, N.J. with his family where he graduated from Dwight Morrow High School. He attend Hampton Institute in Hampton, Va. and Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, N.J. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Englewood and was employed as an account executive with AT&T Corporation.
Moorman enlisted in the New Jersey National Guard and attended the Officer Candidate School. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the New Jersey National Guard and progressed to the rank of first lieutenant. he was honorably discharged after 10 years of service.
Moorman resided in Somerset and Piscataway, N.J. prior to relocating to Herndon where he joined Heritage Fellowship United Church of Christ. Moorman married his wife Jeanette in 1997. He was employed by ICF Consulting until his death.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette; son Michael of Somerset, N.J.; sister Dolores M. Wainwright and brother-in-law, Oliver O. Wainwright, of Piscataway, N.J.; brother, Ret. Brigadier General Holsey A. Moorman and sister-in-law Carrie of Palm Coast, Fla.; nephew, Gary, and niece, Tunya Moorman, of Ashburn; grandchildren, Lindsey and Joshua Dulin, of Herndon; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Keith Ball of Cape Coral, Fla.; son Paul Bigby, Detroit, Mich.; and a host of grandchildren and other relatives.
