The week of Nov. 17 was American Education Week. In honor of this, the Future Educators of American club made giant candy cards for each of the teaching departments to say thanks for all of their hard work. Parents of the students were invited to sit in on classes and eat lunch with their child on designated days.
The Southern Association of Colleges and School peer review team was at Park View this past week to observe the school and talk to the students and staff about school issues. They got a chance to eat lunch with the Principal's Advisory Council and then talk to them about major issues in high schools all around, and how they affected Park View. They found out how students felt about the school and their opinions on classes and teachers. The committee then spent Wednesday visiting classes and observing teachers.
The fall sports awards took place on Monday, where athletes got a chance to watch the Bob Updegrove slide show and coaches got a chance to recognize their MVPs and Coaches Award recipients. The sports then broke up into individual teams so coaches could talk to athletes and hand out any other awards or personal gifts. The next day in school all the students got a chance to view the slide show, which is always a big hit at Park View.
This past weekend the competition cheerleading squad competed at the regional competition and placed 6th out of the 12 teams that were there. Park View is the first competition squad in the history of Park View to ever advance to regionals, after placing 3rd at the district competition on Nov. 1.
