Originally produced in 1600, "Twelfth Night," or "What You Will" was one of Shakespeare's first forays into the shipwrecked crew theme. The story focuses on the central heroine Viola who disguises herself as a boy in order to live safely in Illyria where she is stranded after a storm. When Viola gets the job of messenger for the Duke Orsino and must send love notes to his beloved Lady Olivia trouble follows when Olivia falls for the disguised Viola instead. Add to that Viola's growing feelings for Orsino and hilarity ensues.
