<sh>Franconia Man Charged in Assaults
<bt>Desmond Kirk Pierre-Louis, principal of a public charter school in Washington, D.C., was arrested Nov. 17 for sexual assaults that allegedly occurred with a foster child during 2000, Fairfax County Police reported.
In August 2002, the victim told police that between May and December 2000, he spent several weekends at the home of 45-year-old Pierre-Louis of Greyledge Court in the Franconia area. At the time, Pierre-Louis was a respite foster parent in Alexandria City. The male victim, who was 14 at the time, reported that Pierre-Louis sexually assaulted him during these visits..
Police arrested Pierre-Louis at his home about 7:30 p.m. and charged him with forcible sodomy, aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a minor while in a supervisory relationship. Pierre-Louis was held without bond.
<sh>Correction
<bt>In the Nov. 5 Connection article about ramps from I-95 north to 7900 west, the information about the ramps was incomplete. Traffic on northbound I-95 will not be able to access 7900 west. The proposal is for the southbound traffic on I-95 to bypass Springfield and take a right-hand exit to 7900 west. Northbound traffic on I-95 will still be unable to exit onto 7900 west. The only way that northbound traffic on I-95 will be able to access 7900 west is to exit at Springfield, take Spring Mall Drive to Frontier Drive, turn right and take another right onto 7900.
<sh>Carjacking
<bt>A Springfield-area woman was carjacked at knifepoint, and police are asking for help finding the suspects. On Nov. 17, at approximately 10:10 p.m., the 48-year-old victim parked her car in the 7000 block of Spring Garden Drive. As she was getting out of her car, she was approached by two men. One suspect pulled a knife on her, while the other suspect demanded her keys. The victim turned over her keys and was a able to get away while the suspects drove off in her car. The victim was not injured in the incident.
The suspects were described as Hispanic, 18 to 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, with medium builds. One was wearing a gray, hooded jacket. The vehicle is a 1997, silver, four-door Honda Accord with Virginia tags ZEC-8240. <sh>Springfield Woman Arrested
<bt>A Fairfax County Police investigation uncovered an unlicensed massage parlor, and two women were arrested. On Wednesday, Nov. 11, Neighborhood Patrol Units from the McLean District entered the Golden massage parlor in the 8500 block of Lee Highway. They were investigating the issuance of any permits to give massages. Officers discovered Kyong Ok Kuk Ching, 43, of Saratoga Ridge Court, Springfield, giving a massage to a patron. Hyang H. Williams, 42, of 1054 Burwick Road, Herndon, was also found giving a shower to another person. Both women were charged with not having a permit to give massages. An investigation is continuing.
<sh>World War II Notices
<bt>World War II veterans and their next of kin are now able to request a free copy of their World War II Separation notices from the Library of Virginia. The library's collection of approximately 250,000 notices, part of the records of the World War II History Commission, includes information on veterans discharged between 1942 and 1950 who sought employment in Virginia. Most of the notices are for military personnel who were born or raised in Virginia before the war and returned to Virginia after discharge from the service.
Due to a fire at the National Personnel Record Center in St. Louis, some seperation notices were destroyed. The Army and Army Air Force separation notices at the Library of Virginia may contain the necessary information for these veterans to verify their service and obtain benefits.
Requests for records must be made in writing on the form provided by the library. The request form is available on the library's Web site, www.lva.lib.va.us, and hard copies are available on request.
