<sh>2 Charged with Larceny
<bt>According to City of Fairfax police, a security guard reported that on Nov. 10, at 11:25 p.m., he observed three subjects enter the Comfort Inn at 11180 Main St. The trio proceeded to the third and fourth floors of the building. The security guard watched the subjects, noticing that they appeared to be tampering with the vending machines. As one subject left the building, the remaining two proceeded to the building's fifth floor.
After contacting the police, the security guard confronted the two individuals in the building. Fairfax City officers arrived and began an investigation, which revealed that the subjects had allegedly broken into vending machines and stolen the money from inside. The subjects were identified as Benjamin Eugene Lacovey, 23, of Nokesville, Va., and Randy Lee Allan, 30, of Manassas.
Police arrested Lacovey and Allan, taking them to jail and charging them with petit larceny.
<sh>Fairfax Woman, 56, Killed in Crash
<bt>On Nov. 12, at 7 a.m., Tsulin Jen, 56, of Covington Street in the Fairfax-area, was driving her Honda Civic southbound on Olley Lane. A 16-year-old girl driving a Subaru failed to yield when exiting her driveway and struck Jen's car. Jen's car was redirected to the opposite lane, where she struck head-on a Nissan heading northbound on Olley Lane. Jen was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Robert Clinton, 52, the driver of the Nissan, was not injured; however, 15-year-old Victoria Clinton was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries and released. Alcohol and speed were not factors. All people involved were wearing seat belts except for Jen. Charges are pending.
<sh>2 Arrested at Massage Parlor
<bt>A Fairfax County Police investigation uncovered an unlicensed massage parlor, and two women were arrested. On Wednesday, Nov. 11, Neighborhood Patrol Units from the McLean District entered the Golden massage parlor in the 8500 block of Lee Highway. They were investigating the issuance of any permits to give massages. Officers discovered Kyong Ok Kuk Ching, 43, of Saratoga Ridge Court, Springfield, giving a massage to a patron. Hyang H. Williams, 42, of 1054 Burwick Road, Herndon, was also found giving a shower to another person. Both women were charged with not having a permit to give massages. An investigation is continuing.
<sh>World War II Notices
<bt>World War II veterans and their next of kin are now able to request a free copy of their World War II Separation notices from the Library of Virginia. The library's collection of approximately 250,000 notices, part of the records of the World War II History Commission, includes information on veterans discharged between 1942 and 1950 who sought employment in Virginia. Most of the notices are for military personnel who were born or raised in Virginia before the war and returned to Virginia after discharge from the service.
Due to a fire at the National Personnel Record Center in St. Louis, some seperation notices were destroyed. The Army and Army Air Force separation notices at the Library of Virginia may contain the necessary information for these veterans to verify their service and obtain benefits.
Requests for records must be made in writing on the form provided by the library. The request form is available on the library's Web site, www.lva.lib.va.us, and hard copies are available on request.
