Temporary Change

<bt>The Fairfax County School Board on Thursday, Nov. 6, approved the temporary appointment of Brad Draeger as acting chief academic officer in the wake of the unexpected death on Nov. 1 of Nancy Sprague, who held that position since its creation last year. Draeger, the school system's assistant superintendent of Human Resources, will serve until a permanent replacement is found and will receive a salary supplement at the rate of $700 per month for as long as he serves in that capacity.

In addition, the board elevated Kevin North, the director of the Office of Employment Services, to acting assistant superintendent for Human Resources. North will receive a salary supplement at the rate of $500 per month for as long as he serves as the temporary assistant superintendent.

Tom Brady, the chief operating officer, was the superintendent's designee, which enables him to attend any meeting of the School Board that the superintendent cannot attend and to execute official documents relating to state, federal and impact aid requiring the superintendent's signature.
