To the Editor:
In the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors race for chairman, Gerry Connolly's (D) recent attempt at bashing Mychele Brickner (R) is bound to backfire as commonsense voters recognize his radical attack for what it is — a frantic last-gasp effort to distort the truth. His sensational attack on Brickner is all he has left since it's becoming clear that voters aren't impressed with his tax-and-spend mentality or his failure to rid us of traffic gridlock after being supervisor for several years.
Our home received his most recent glossy ad featuring a glossy librarian who gushes about "censorship" and Brickner's votes on the School Board to "limit access" to certain books. Citizens are directed to the dastardly "book banning" Web site www.pabbis.com. Yes. Please read the excerpts of explicit smutty material that our tax money has paid for: scenes of oral sex between adults and children, rape incest, violent sex, homosexual themes, foul language and more. If your home computer has a filter to protect your children from such garbage, access will be blocked and you'll have to use a friend's unfiltered computer to view the actual text.
Thank you, Mychele Brickner, for having the common sense, perseverance and leadership that brought about a School Board consensus regarding some books that are not appropriate for middle-school students. Thanks also to Gerry Connolly for revealing his extreme left agenda. Voters may be wondering why he supports spending scarce tax dollars on such controversial and bizarre reading material when we all know how our public schools need money for genuine educational purposes.
