Colleen Blanchfield, M.D., directs this ten-week series featuring for learning and experiencing various modalities conducive to wellness when living with cancer. Safeway Food & Pharmacy, in cooperation with InterFit Health, will offer health screenings, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, May 30, and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, at Safeway's 10350 Willard Way, Fairfax location. Tests include a cholesterol profile with glucose, allergy panels, men's and women's health panels as well as diet and nutrition tests. In honor of Mother's Day, customers will receive a free osteoporosis screening during the entire month of May. La Leche League of Burke meets on the first Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Meetings take place at the Burke Presbyterian Church on Oak Leather Drive off of Burke Center Parkway. The next meeting will be Saturday, June 7. The breastfeeding support group offers help and support to mothers who are currently breastfeeding a child or anyone who plans to breastfeed. The Claude Moore Charitable Foundation has awarded Inova Health System a $5 million challenge grant to develop the Claude Moore Health Education Center on the campus of Inova Fairfax Hospital/Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children. This is the largest grant ever awarded to Inova Health System. The grant will fund an educational facility to train physicians, nurses and allied health professionals and expand the medical knowledge of health care professionals throughout Virginia.
