Fairfax Man Charged with Firearms Crimes

Two Fairfax men have been charged in connection with an incident, last Tuesday, May 6, at Tia's restaurant in the Fair Lakes Promenade Shopping Center. They are Raymond A. Ford, 25, of 11612 Kenwood Terrace, off Route 29, in Fairfax, and Alexander B. Buie, 24, of 12567 Summit Drive, in the Crystal Springs community.

According to police, a Springfield woman, 21, and her boyfriend, 22 and also from Springfield, were leaving the restaurant and walking to their car, around 1:50 a.m., when two men approached them. Police say the pair made derogatory remarks about the woman and began harassing her. The girl exchanged words with the men, and her boyfriend got out of their car to find out what was happening.

Then, say police, one of the men allegedly pulled a gun, pointed it at the couple and fired one round. The bullet ricocheted off the pavement, striking the boyfriend in the shoe, but causing no injury. The suspects fled but, say police, they returned a short time afterward while officers were on the scene investigating. Police arrested both men, whom they reportedly identified as Ford and Buie. Ford was charged with felony brandishing of a firearm, felony discharging of a firearm in public, disorderly conduct and drunk in public. Buie was charged with drunk in public.
