An Oak Hill man previously convicted of two crimes sexual in nature has been arrested again on similar charges by Fairfax County police. He is Grant Kasey Smith, 23, of 3210 Grasmere Court.
Police charged him in connection with an incident that occurred April 10 in the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant at 5794 Union Mill Road in the Colonnade Shopping Center in Clifton. The mother of a 9-year-old girl called police to the business, that night, around 7:25 p.m., saying that an unknown male had exposed himself to her daughter while they were inside the restaurant.
The woman then provided authorities with a description of the suspect and the car in which he was seen leaving the parking lot. Police say a subsequent investigation into the incident reportedly led detectives to Smith. Last Tuesday, April 29, they charged him with two counts of indecent exposure and one count of indecent liberties with a minor.
He was released from the Adult Detention Center, the next day, on a total of $60,000 bond — $20,000 for each of his three charges. He has a June 6 court date and, if convicted on all counts, he could receive as much as 11 years in prison.
According to court records, this wasn't Smith's first brush with the law. On Feb. 17, 2000 in General District Court, he was sentenced for two 1999 offenses — window peeping and indecent liberties. For each charge, he was sentenced to 12 months in jail with 11 months suspended.
