The snow has melted and the flowers are blooming. Yet, VDOT's work is far from over.
This past week, a crew of six came out to repair the sinkhole in Waynewood that had been temporarily patched during the snowstorm. Crew leader Kevin Ward said that because it was such a large hole, they have to dig down and see if there's a reason why it sunk. Once they identify where the problem is, they will patch and pave over it.
According to VDOT, sometimes it takes a while to do repairs because they have to wait for the asphalt truck to arrive. Some asphalt plants are unpredictable, causing a truck to have to go further for supplies. In this case, Ward expected the job to take a couple of hours and then they would move onto another job at Collingwood and Fort Hunt Road.
