<sh>Malicious Wounding at Mall

<bt>Two people were arrested after they allegedly fought with a 25-year-old Alexandria-area man and stabbed him several times, at Springfield Mall. The police charged William James Bonds, 19, of Miller Heights Road in the Alexandria area with malicious wounding. A Fairfax-area 15-year-old was released to his parents, and juvenile petitions were pending. The victim was treated at a nearby hospital.

<sh>Fairfax Station Teen Injured in Accident

<bt>Krystal Colbert, 19, of Fairfax Station was driving a 1992 Saturn on Wednesday, March 12, at about 5:50 p.m., when she allegedly attempted to make a left turn from southbound Ox Road onto Little Ox Road. Colbert's vehicle was hit in the right side by a 1993 Volkswagen Jetta, which was being driven by Jacqueline Valdes, 24, of Dale City. Valdes was traveling northbound on Ox Road.

Colbert sustained a head injury and was medevac’d to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment. Valdes and a passenger, Christopher Desaliza, 20, of the Woodbridge area were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital. They were both treated for broken extremities.

Police reported that Valdes and Desaliza were wearing seat belts, and Colbert was not. Fault of the accident has yet to be determined, although neither speed nor alcohol was considered a factor.

<cal2>Public Forum: "What do you think about your public schools?" 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax. Gibson Consulting Group Inc. is conducting an independent review of Fairfax County Public Schools. As part of the review process, this forum will allow the public to provide input on how the school system can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations and programs.

<cal1>Name the New School at Island Creek/Community Input Meeting. 7 p.m., at Lane Elementary School cafeteria, 7137 Beulah St.,

Alexandria. Those members of the community located within the new school's boundaries are invited to attend a community meeting. School Board member Christian Braunlich (Lee District) will conduct the meeting. Betsy Fenske, Cluster V director, and Susan Owner, principal of the new school, will also attend. Questions regarding student assignment to the new elementary school should be directed to Gary Chevalier, director of Facilities Planning Services, at 703-246-3608. Questions about the meeting or procedures for naming the new school should be directed to the Cluster V office at 703-329-4309.

Those members of the community located within the new school's boundaries are invited to attend a community meeting. School Board members Catherine Belter (Springfield) and Isis Castro (Mount Vernon) will conduct the meeting. Betsy Fenske, Cluster V director, and Susan Garrison, principal of the new school, will also attend.
