Back, a freshman mechanical engineering major, is a graduate of West Springfield High School and is the son of Col. Joe T. and Mary Kay Back. Christopher J. Plehal of Springfield, a Dartmouth College student in the class of 2004, traveled to Auckland, New Zealand to study Linguistics as part of the College’s Foreign Study Program during the Winter 2003 term. Dartmouth’s off-campus programs are designed to expand the college’s curriculum in new areas of academic and cultural understanding. Plehal is the son of John V. and Gareth A. Plehal.
