Spring Sports Tryouts began as students endured their first full week back at school since the numerous snow storms. Many students and coaches are anticipating successful, fun-filled seasons and are hoping that no more inclement weather will assist in shortening the season.
The Winter Sports Awards were held on March 5. Various teams and players were recognized for their achievement during the season. The evening began with the presentation of a slideshow, contributed by Bob Updegrove, at 6:30 p.m.
During March 11-17, the Student Council Association organized a Canned Food Drive as a way for students to aid a local charity. Various "green" canned goods are collected in 1st and 2nd period, leading up to Saint Patrick's Day.
In honor of Foreign Language Week, Spanish students wore stickers stating their Spanish name, and many language classes held trivia contests.
The Patriot Marching Band is gearing up for the annual Spring Trip to Myrtle Beach this year by holding morning practices every Wednesday from 7:30-8:30.
During the weekend of March 1, many Park View students traveled to Richmond in order to participate in the DECA State Leadership Contest. Eight members placed in the top 10 in their events. Junior Carolyn Rose took home a commendable 1st place overall in Quick Serve Restaurant Management. Five members will compete in the National Competition held in Orlando, Fla., in April.
