Detectives with the Special Victims Unit (SVU) of the Arlington County Police Department today announced the arrest of Jorge Albert Acosta for aggravated sexual battery of a minor. Acosta, 31, was arrested Feb. 12 at his residence in the 800 block of S. Greenbrier Street in Arlington.
SVU detectives began investigating Acosta after receiving information from one of his victims. Acosta is currently being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention Facility and is under investigation for similar crimes in Fairfax County. He is likely to face additional charges.
Because of the concern that Acosta may have victimized other children, the Arlington County Police Department is asking anyone with knowledge of Acosta's contact with children to call Det. Rosa Ortiz at 703-228-4244. Callers may remain anonymous.
ROBBERY
* 2100 blk S. Jefferson Davis Hwy. At approximately 5:30 p.m. Feb. 23, the victim, a 40-year-old female retail clerk was approached by an unknown male subject. The subject implied a weapon and demanded money. The subject then forced the victim to the floor and kicked her several times before fleeing the store with an undetermined amount of money. The suspect is described as a black male, 5'9", 180 lbs, wearing a blue peacoat, dark pants and shoes, gloves and a black ski mask.
ATTMEPTED ROBBERY
* 5800 blk N. Washington Blvd. At approximately 4:54 p.m. on Feb. 21, the victim, a 46-year-old female, was walking on the sidewalk when she was approached from behind by an unknown male subject. The subject knocked the victim to the ground and unsuccessfully attempted to snatch her purse. The subject fled west on Washington Blvd. when the victim screamed. The suspect is described as a white male, 20s, 5'6", 170-200 lbs, wearing a gray wool cap, blue jeans, and a black jacket with red lettering on back.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
* 200 N. George Mason Dr. Sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 7:50 p.m. on Jan. 21, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence through an open window and stole a TV, a DVD player, 10 Persian rugs, and a microwave.
* 3000 N. Florida St. Sometime between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Jan. 17, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a residence by kicking open a basement door. The subject(s) stole an undetermined amount of cash.
* 2700 S. Grant St. Sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Jan. 20, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a residence through a back door and stole a television. The resident scared the subject away.
* 5200 N. Old Dominion Dr. Sometime between 1 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. on Jan. 17, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a residence by breaking a side window. The subject(s) stole costume jewelry.
* 2800 S. 16th Rd. Sometime between 9:30 on Jan. 15 and 11:45 p.m. on Jan. 17, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole a Sony Playstation 2 and a Spiderman DVD. There were no signs of forced entry.
* 3300 N. Thomas St. Sometime between 9 a.m. on Jan. 17 and 8 p.m. on Jan. 19, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence. The subject(s) left two open cans of Sprite and a bra. There were no signs of forced entry.
* 4300 N. Pershing Dr. Sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 6:10 p.m. on Jan. 22, an unknown subject(s) entered an apartment and stole a baking pan and a phone book. There were no signs of forced entry.
* 1600 N. 21st Rd. Sometime between noon on Jan. 10 and 4:03 p.m. on Jan. 26, an unknown subject(s) removed two bicycles that were locked inside a storage area. There were no signs of forced entry into the storage room.
* 5900 N. Wilson Blvd. Sometime between 4:50 p.m. on Jan. 29 and 3 p.m. on Jan. 30, an unknown subject(s) entered an apartment and stole miscellaneous costume jewelry and an undetermined amount of cash. There were no signs forced entry.
* 2300 S. June St. Sometime between 8:45 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. on Feb. 9, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole a laptop computer. There were no signs of forced entry.
* 1000 S. Jefferson St. At 10:35 p.m. Feb. 15, police officers responded for the report of a disturbance in an apartment building. Upon arrival, officers observed two subjects in the hallway. After further investigation, the officers determined that the subjects had forced entry into an apartment. Fredis Villatoro, 19, of Arlington, and Wilfredo Armella, 22, of Arlington, were both arrested and charged with burglary.
* 17th St. Sometime between 9 p.m. on Feb. 15 and 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 16, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a residence by breaking the lock on a basement door. Nothing appeared to be missing from the residence.
* 3000 S. 17th St. Sometime between 5 p.m. on Feb. 15 and 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 19, an unknown person(s) entered a residence and stole two portable heaters and various tools. There were no signs of forced entry.
* 3900 N. 17th St. Sometime between 6:09 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 26, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a residence through a window and stole a Sony Playstation and electronic equipment.
* 4400 N. Pershing Dr. Sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 and 9:15 a.m. on Feb. 25, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into an apartment through a window and turned on the shower causing water damage. Nothing was stolen.
* 1700 Clarendon Blvd. Sometime between Feb. 24 and Feb. 25, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a residence through a front door and stole a Toshiba laptop computer and a Mintek portable DVD player.
* 1700 blk N. Clarendon Blvd. Sometime between noon and 11:40 p.m. on Feb. 23, an unknown subject(s) forced open the victim's door and removed a laptop computer.
ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
* 4500 N. 19th St. At approximately 3:50 a.m. on Jan. 29, an unknown subject(s) attempted to force entry into a house by prying open a door. The house alarm sounded, and the subject fled before gaining entry.
* 3100 S. Hayes St. Sometime between 8:45 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 11, an unknown subject(s) attempted to force entry into a residence by breaking a back door window.
* 4700 N. Washington Blvd. Sometime between 10:45 p.m. on Feb. 6 and 6:15 a.m. on Feb. 7, an unknown subject(s) attempted to force entry into a garage by breaking out a window.
* 200 N. Thomas St. At 11:29 p.m. on Feb. 7, an unknown subject attempted to enter an apartment through an open window. The resident yelled that she was calling the police and the subject fled scene. The subject was described as a black male, 30's, 6'0", 180-200 lbs, wearing a black stocking hat and a brown jacket.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
* 800 N. Quincy St. Sometime between 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 18 and 8 a.m. on Jan. 21, an unknown subject(s) entered an office suite and stole three laptop computers. There were no signs of forced entry.
* 2900 S. Glebe Rd. Sometime between 5 p.m. on Jan. 16 and 8:10 a.m. on Jan. 17, an unknown subject(s) entered an office and removed an undetermined amount of cash from a desk drawer. There were no signs of forced entry.
* 2900 S. Glebe Rd. Sometime between 11 p.m. on Jan. 22 and 5 a.m. on Jan. 23, an unknown subject(s) entered the business and stole an undetermined amount of cash.
* 1100 Wilson Blvd. Sometime between 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 23 and 7 a.m. on Jan. 24, an unknown subject(s) entered an office suite and stole an undetermined amount of cash. There were no signs of forced entry
