Ceste Stanly of Springfield was among 58 students recognized during Bryan College's Honors Day program. Stanly received the Mary McDonald Groves Music Scholarship, given to a student for outstanding achievement in music.
Tyler Beaujon Christesen of Springfield has been selected by Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg for "Honors Admission" for the fall of 2003. Honors admission is offered to students who apply early and have an outstanding high school performance record and SAT scores.
Mary Elizabeth Wojanis of Springfield accepted membership into The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and will be honored during a campus ceremony this fall at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. NSCS recognizes first and second year undergraduates who excel academically.
Jamie Sawyer of Springfield has been named to the dean’s list at Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pa. Sawyer is a junior majoring in early childhood and elementary education.
Kathryn D. Zuk, daughter of Denise and Mark Zuk of Springfield, is one of more than 250 cadets who received the 2003 George C. Marshall ROTC Award at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va. The award is presented to the most outstanding Army ROTC cadet seniors at each college or university in the nation that host ROTC detachments. After graduating from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., and completing the ROTC program, Zuk will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army. She is a 1999 graduate of West Springfield High School.
Emily Dawn Harris of Springfield has been named to the dean's and president's lists for the spring semester at University of Oklahoma. To be named to the dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5. The college of architecture and college of engineering acknowledge grade point averages of 3.3 and 3.0, respectively. Students named to the president's list earned a 4.0 grade point average.
