Inova Blood Donor Services will conduct a community blood drive Wednesday, June 11 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at the United Christian Parish, 2222 Colts Neck Road, Reston.

Donating is scheduled at 15-minute intervals and takes about one hour. Appointments can be made with David Roe at 703-860-9430 or e-mail davidaroe@aol.com.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health for three days prior to donating. A photo-identification card is required.

Donors will receive a free check of their blood pressure, pulse, temperature and hemoglobin (iron) level. They will also receive a wallet-sized ID card containing their blood type.

Kids R First will hold its Second Annual Golf Classic at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 27, at South Riding Golfers' Club in Chantilly. Proceeds from the tournament will help to provide school supplies in the fall of 2003 for 10,000 students from families in need in the Dulles corridor area. The golfing package will include a cart equipped with color parview GPS system, continental breakfast, catered lunch, goodie bag, and prizes. Various levels of sponsorship are available for individuals, families, and businesses. A portion of the fee is tax-deductible.

Raffle tickets are being sold for $20 each. The winner will receive a five-day stay for two in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The drawing will be held at the conclusion of the tournament on June 27. The winner need not be present.

Three Wishes Program makes power wheelchairs available to senior citizens (65 years and up) and the permanently disabled with no cost to the recipient if they qualify. The power wheelchairs are provided to those who cannot walk and cannot self-propel a manual wheelchair in their home, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program. No deposit is required. The Northern Virginia Family Service needs foster families for abused and neglected children. African-American families are particularly needed. Help is needed in both full-time and short-term programs. Training, support and financial compensation will be provided.
