As the school year is coming to a close, many end-of-the-year activities are taking place. Prom 2003 was a successful event on Saturday, May 31. Many juniors and seniors attended the dance from 8 p.m.-midnight at the Tysons Westpark Hotel.
The Student Council Association inducted new members on the morning of May 30 in the Park View Gymnasium. The 2003-2004 officers will be President Alyssa Yassine, Vice President Lynn Ellison, Secretary Sophia Jones, Treasurer Phuong Tran-Le, and Historian Jessica Koss.
The Band Awards were held on the evening of May 29. Marching Band, Color Guard, and Dance Team members were recognized by receiving letters and certificates.
Park View was named "a high school of merit" in the top four percent of the nation's high schools by Newsweek Magazine.
Many members of the Varsity Softball Team were recently recognized in the District and Metropolitan areas. Senior pitcher Karie Morrison was named All Met Player of the Year, as well as Player of the Year in the District. Second Team All District honors went to Sheryl Wilson-outfield, Kristen Miller-second base, and Julia Dominguez-catcher. First Team All District were Veronica Skinner-shortstop, Karie Morrison-pitcher, and Jeanine Gargiulo-first base.
